Continuing discussion from my previous post (boot polish) ….So you don’t believe that you are born with your destiny planned and wired from birth for your future.
Like all the scientist study rats and flies to understand human workings. So let’s start from there and see how the nature does the similar things with bees.
Queen bees lives longer than all other bees, they never work in their life, they only mate with other drones.
When the queen bee is suppose to be born, the mother goes to a special cell in the hives, which is larger than the cells of normal brood comb, and is oriented vertically instead of horizontally. Somehow mother knows queen is about to be born.
Queen bees are fed royal Jelly, a secretion from glands on the head of young workers, for an extended time. Only one queen remains in one colony. She mates with 12-15 drones (male bees). She is continuously surrounded by young worker attendants, who meet her every need, giving her feed and even disposing of her waste. They also lick her body for the pheromones called queen substance.
The bee’s colony is divided into drones, and sterile female workers. Female bee’s whole life goes in working, making the hives, getting the nectar from flowers to hives, and taking care of queen bees and following it around.
Their life’s are much shorter than the Queen bees. The foragers die usually when their wings are worn out after approximately 500 miles of flight. (I would like to know one day if the worker bees are more religious minded then the Queen bees).
So, you see how the nature has divided bees in different status and roles, and fixed their destiny already at the birth.
Don’t you see we humans are also divided at our birth in very similar fashion?
In real life we see Paris Hilton and the girl at our corner grocery stores who work for $5 an hour. Nature is not fair, God is not fair. I am sure you must be Wondering many times how come someone born in Hollywood with a silver spoon in their mouth and how someone is born without any food in their mouth.
How come we are put in circumstances where we are guaranteed to be a failure, and how come we are put in a circumstances where we are guaranteed to have enough chances till we succeed. Many research has shown some people are at advantage and some are at disadvantage from beginning. In short you are a born queen bee or not.
But this fact is very hard for people to digest, as we always believe that we make our destiny and everything is result of our mind, smart and hard work.
There can be numerous example where people will say – so and so born so poor in all the adverse conditions but he turns out to be fine. Agreed, there are many stories we know of rags to riches, but then we also know these people are wired differently then others in their surroundings. So how come they are wired differently? Why they listen to different drummer? Do you see how people are wired, and born with their destiny chalk out for them.
I am sure you must be itching to throw the challenge at me – So you are saying if I wouldn’t have done anything, wouldn’t have gone to college and wouldn’t worked so hard for my job, I would have reached to my present position regardless? You may be thinking – whatever I am saying looks completely impossible, does not make sense.
But I think we humans made a big mistake here, to start with, you wouldn’t have gone to college if you wouldn’t have this burning desire to be successful (from where the desire comes?), your odds would have been slim if you have been born in some African country refugee camp. You wouldn’t have worked hard if you wouldn’t have the energy. Lots of things were laid out automatically for you, you are wired with the desire, your outlook for life was wired, your brain was healthy, all the blocks were aligned for you, you social and economical conditions were aligned for you, your books were printed for you, your schools were made for you, without all this hidden alignment you wouldn’t have been success no matter how hard you have tried. And I am sure you know many stories, were hard work or intelligence alone was not sufficient for people success.
Now you may question me – “if what you say is true then we should just sit here hand on hand everything will happen for us? We don’t have to do anything as everything is already decided for us” and my answer will be – You don’t know, if you don’t do anything and you die hungry and broke then that would very well may be your destiny, and if you work hard and study and live a comfortable life then that would be your destiny, problem is you don’t know, if you are born to be a queen bee or worker bee?
So what is the point? If we don’t know what is our destiny and in any case we must try our best and keep trying to do the right thing. Then what is the point of all this?
Point is,
if you are a queen bee then realize this fact and please be humble and kind, realize that you cannot take hundred percent credit for your success, it is given to you, so be kind and nice to others. If you are a worker bee then realize that your failure in life is not hundred percent you’re doing

What Contributes to the Achievement Gap? http://www.ncrel.org/gap/library/text/whatcontributes.htm
PS: I am very fortunate to work with very smart people, they are top of the cream. Naturally smart parents have smart kids. Yesterday, I met one of my co-worker with her son in the hallway, Harsh is 3 year old. While chatting, she said this young kid is never taught any ABC, but by just observation he learned them, he can recite them by heart, and not only that he can even write it too. By sitting in the car and watching all the cars pass by he learned how to spell all the cars names and he can distinguish cars from one make to another. I asked him many cars name and he spelled them all so perfectly. Simply Amazing!
While parting the way I called after her – You are so lucky! You got a prodigy at your hand. And she replied, not exactly, his elder brother who is 5 still does not know how to write ABC, and they are tired of teaching him.
Here is an interesting read, while reading some history texts I came into this interesting philosophy called Ajivika. It was a full scale philosophy contemporary to Budhism and Jainism, but got extinct in 13th century. The center of this philosophy was “Niyati” means destiny in Sanskrit. Contrary to Buddhism and Jainism they didn’t believe in Karma or Dharma. What we are is our destiny and the change is also our destiny. This pattern gives you a proper meaning of relaxation, and you “Just Chill” (as Sarosh says). Whatever you are doing and will do is your destiny, become aware of it and then you feel you are at perfect balance with nature. Don’t get confused this with pre-written-future-you-have and you can’t change it, destiny is vibrant, dynamic and it is living. So at atomic level every action you take has a Newtonian flow but not random. Like if you throw a ball on a surface all its path obeys rules of energy, but still not predicted because of environment which may deflect it in different ways, but if environment constrains are fully known all its path can be traced. So ball is at full balance with nature or environment and it goes on it destiny. Well it may take out “efforts” out of our life, and our “efforts” are also our destiny! I get confused when I start thinking, that is why it may got extinct, may be my brain is not evolved at that level yet. What our thoughts are we think that is what we know but there are always things beyond it. Let me make an analogy to something and ask you one question (I have no answer to it, but I asked this question to myself thousand of times) … so question goes like this.
Suppose you start traveling in space, and keep on going, would you end up somewhere? Would you fall? Suppose you end up at a boundary of universe and you are standing there AT THE END, will there be something beyond that? If there is something then that is not an end, and always there will be something … so you still keep on going. till when?
The book “The brief history of time” says space itself is not straight but like a sphere, and you will end up where you started. But it also says there might be other universe also, and it keeps on going. Same way the destiny encapsulates itself … hence confusing and unresolved, please help here :)
“Gosala (The founder) denied that a man’s actions could influence the process of transmigration, which proceeded according to a rigid pattern, controlled in the smallest detail by an impersonal cosmic principle, Niyati, or destiny.”
“There is no cause of the depravity of things; they become depraved without any reason or cause. There is also no cause of the purity of beings; they become pure without any reason or cause. Nothing depends either on one’s own efforts or on the efforts of others. All things are destitute of power, force, or energy. Their changing states are due to destiny, environment, and their own nature. Thus, it denies sin, or dharma, and denies freedom of man in shaping his own future.”
“We have a life and we have to live it”
Destiny! Is there one or not?
When two people come to a fork in a path in the middle of nowhere, what makes one pick the right fork and the other left? Mind you, these two people are not at that fork at the same time. There are no directions, clues, or any other data point. Each of them does not have a clue as to the other persons existence, let alone which path the other took. I am not looking for a clever response as to clues or some other pointer. All conditions are equal. However, in a deeper sense, something guides either of them or both of them to a certain path at the fork. What is that? Or who is that?
